Our Story

Once upon a time, not so very long ago,
There was a guy in Queenstown who at first had come for snow.
He said, “this place is awesome, and adventures do abound,
I think I’ll settle down here”, and a hostel he did found.
This homey little hostel (Adventure Queenstown is its name),
Proved to be quite popular, and quickly grew to fame.
With friendly staff, amenities, comfort, and location,
It was voted (many times) best hostel in the nation!
This got the fellow thinking, and he wondered what to do,
Until one day he realised, “hey, let’s open number two!”
Hooray! Agreed the guests and crew, but where shall we showcase?
Of course right here in Queenstown – there could be no better place!
The deal was done, the plans were made as opportunity arose,
So next to find a manager – yeah, he’d need one of those.
He’d hired a Canadian, and (pirate-like) kidnapped her,
So now there’s a second hostel . . . after lots of work (and laughter).
But what to call the ‘little sister’? What name should we choose?
“That’s easy,” said the hostel guy “We’ll call it Adventure Q 2!”
So that’s the story, there it is, that’s how we came to be …
And perhaps one day our sequel, will become a trilogy?

All joking aside, this brand-new, purpose-built hostel is the brain child of owner/general manager Brett Duncan. With the help of manager Lisa Whitelaw and numerous (and greatly appreciated) members of the AQ team past and present, this little idea has become a solid fact!
